San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa participated in a side field workout during Sunday's practice, marking his first visible activity since developing tendinitis in his knee during training camp. The star pass rusher tore his ACL in Week 3 last season and had been absent from practice entirely for roughly two weeks while managing the knee issue.
The 49ers did not place Bosa on the physically unable to perform list at the start of camp, instead taking a gradual approach to his recovery. His presence on the sidelines performing an extensive workout represents a positive sign, though the team has not indicated he is approaching a full return.
San Francisco's priority remains having Bosa healthy for the Week 1 opener against the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia, scheduled for nearly a month away. The side field workout suggests the defensive end is trending in the right direction ahead of that matchup.
