Europe's leading clubs issued an ultimatum to Fifa leadership hours before the organization abandoned a controversial plan. The European Football Clubs group warned in a letter to Fifa's secretary general that member participation in future Club World Cups depended on Gianni Infantino withdrawing his Fifa Forward Enterprise scheme.
The clubs tied their cooperation to completion of a joint venture framework already negotiated between EFC and Fifa. They demanded the deal be finalized before television rights sales begin for the 2028 Women's Club World Cup, making the partnership a condition of their continued involvement.
