The Mexico striker converted from the spot after Ryan Alebiosu was penalized for handball when Jackson Tchatchoua's cross struck his arm. The goal marked Jiménez's first in his second spell with the club following his move from Fulham.
Without VAR in the Championship, there was no review of the penalty decision that would have been scrutinized in the Premier League. Jiménez had distributed scarves to supporters in the South Bank stand before the match as a gesture of appreciation for their backing.
