Spain defender Mapi León has joined London City Lionesses after leaving Barcelona, marking her first venture into the Women's Super League. The 31-year-old centre-back expressed enthusiasm about the transfer during her first major interview since the move, describing herself as happy with the decision to relocate to south-east England.
León is adjusting to life in England, including adopting local food habits. She has developed a taste for crumpets and beans for breakfast, practices that surprised her Spanish teammates including Alexia Putellas and Jana Fernández. The defender noted that her former colleagues questioned her dietary choices, but she remains committed to enjoying English cuisine.
The only significant challenge for León has been leaving behind her cat, Bagheera, due to complications with pet transportation and documentation requirements for international travel. Otherwise, she has settled into her new surroundings with a relaxed and positive attitude toward the club and country.
