Serena and Venus Williams will compete together in doubles at the Cincinnati Open on August 17, facing local player Peyton Stearns and Marta Kostyuk in the night session on Grandstand. The pairing marks their first WTA-level doubles match below a Grand Slam in 10 years, made possible through a wild card invitation to the tournament at Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.

The Williams sisters have played doubles together only six times at WTA1000 or lower-tier events over the past two decades: the 2016 Italian Open, 2014 Dubai Tennis Championships, 2013 China Open, 2010 Madrid Open, and 2009 Bank of West Classic. Their Cincinnati appearance will be their first competitive doubles match as partners since the 2022 US Open, following a knee injury that forced them to withdraw from Wimbledon doubles earlier this summer.

Serena, 44, returned from retirement in summer 2024 and has played doubles at recent tournaments in London and Berlin. Venus, 46, enters the event after struggling with form in recent matches. The Cincinnati Open features several notable veteran players this year, including Novak Djokovic, whose last appearance in 2023 produced the longest match in tournament history.
